Hi again everyone just another wee update on the training in case your thinking of having a go at guessing my marathon time while raising money for Cancer research and chance to win a great prize.

Also like to say to the few that have sent a pm if you dont like doing it online then i am more than happy to receive the money and put it on for you.

Training had been going ok but suffered a foot injury last week no idea what i done but the pain was worse than my sore nipples. So this week i have only done a cpl of 10m runs and if all goes well with foot and Scottish weather im planning my longest run yet on Friday a nice easy 20mile.

Hi Everyone just another update.
Firstly like to say thanks to everyone who has donated so far i am now well on my way to reaching my target with sponsors from here and offline sponsors.

Did a 20mile run today this is the furthest i have ever run so really pleased with my self, did in in just over 3hours 7 mins which is just outside my hoped for time in the marathon. The course was really hilly which is what i had planned as E/Marathon is meant to be all down hill.

So for the ones that are waiting to closer to the big event before having a go this should give you a good indicator of my time.

Hi Dave
Training has been going well and i have really enjoyed, few wee niggles as the runs have got longer. Currently suffering with a sore knee been to the Dr's and going to see Physiotherapist/sports therapist tomorrow mainly for some advice and stretches nothing to serous that will stop me doing the marathon. I did my longest run so far on Friday of 20miles and apart from the knee pain felt great so might try another long run this week if knee is ok if not just short runs of about 10 or 12 miles before race in 3 weeks 5days.

Hi All

Hope im not boring you all by now but did promise id keep you all updated. After my 20mile run last Friday i have been suffering with a sore knee so its been gym work and wlaking in the pool this week walk 100 lengths(before you ask no deep end) the other day wow that is harder than running 20m. Went and did a short run last night of 5k and another 10k tonight knee still a bit painful but not quite as bad.

Also give me another chance to say thanks to everyone who has entered my wee compition while help cancer research.

On the negative side, having done one myself, maybe Im thinking around 4-10

Hi Paul (haganap)

Thanks very much for your kind donation, i would be over the moon with a time of 4.10 considering this is my first marathon and i only started running in the past year.Saying that though the competitive side of me is planning a sub 4 in my head i have worked out my exact times for each mile and will do my best to stick to that for at least the first mile.

Still getting a wee bit of pain in my right knee and really tight calf even though i have been stretching them, i dont think it should slow me down just not be as pleasurable, hoping to do a run tomorrow around 12miles and see how i feel after that.

Can i just remind folk if they are sponsoring me to remember to put thier MHF name or pm so i know who you are.

Hi Folks

Just another wee update now less than 2 weeks to my big day. Most of my training has been done now and its just a case of staying injury free for the next 2 weeks.

Must admit this has been an experience doing all this training not just on a physical side but a mental one also doing over 20miles on country roads with just cows and sheep to talk to sore knees sore feet and really painful nipples Saying all that i have come through it fairly unscathed a few wee injuries here and there but overall i am really pleased with how it has went and fairly confident i could make the GB Olympic as they are still a runner short .

Easy day tomorrow as im away for a game of golf at Turnberry as a treat to myself.

So thanks again for reading my post and still loads of time to have a guess at my time and donate a small amount to my cause with good chance of winning a fab prize.

Well just thought id give you a little update on my training as not long now to the big day. I have had a cold for a week now but getting better each day so fingers crossed i will be 100% for the big day. Not done a lot of running this last week as i am now in the tapering part of my training been doing a little in the gym though just to keep the legs moving and did a nice steady 10k today in the belting heat of Dumfries make a change from hail and rain i have been running in .
Knee is also getting better and hopefully shouldn't cause me any major concern next Sunday might just have to readjust my goals though as i dont think i will make olympic time

Well better get back to work thanks again to everyone who has sponsored me and its not to late to have a guess and win a wonderful prize.

Had my last easy session in the gym this morning so a game of golf tomorrow then feet up until Sunday morning. I am still in my mind planning a sub 4hour not sure if my body agrees with that though.

The forecast is to be hot so not ideal conditions for running so i have taken on advice about hydration and put 10 cans of magners in the mh fridge for Saturday night

I am sitting in Drum mohr campsite just about 1mile from the finish line and its roasting here we have just sat outside and had a bbq at 9pm and had to put sun cream on. So if the weather keeps like this i think i will be taking it easy and just have to try for the commonwealth in 2014 if i dont get in the Olympic team this year
