Just got back from 4 nights at Coed Helen.
Easy to find but beware that the last 150 yards of lane is very narrow and if you meet anyone else coming the other way it is a challenge.
Good points:-
Close to Caernarfon, Castle, pubs and stores (Tesco and Morrisons).
Great walks.
Sand beach nearby.
Lovely views.
Bad points:-
Toilet block out of date.
Only one toilet waste point.
Not allowed to put up tripod dryer outside motorhome.
Roadway in poor condition (pot holes-lots)
Mollys bar/restaurant not open on Monday-Thursday lunch/afternoon.
Poor choice of food (ok if you want American all the time, what about good quality meat and 3 veg?) Beer expensive!
Pricy pitches for what you get.
Ground (grass) in poor condition.
No hardstandings.
No warden at touring site most of the time.
Hardly anything in the shop which was closed all the time.
We were chatting to a lovely couple who told us that this site has changed hands and the static caravan residents are not happy with the current owners all selling up and moving onto other sites.
The guy that ran the bar (before takeover) is now in the Angelsey Arms, just over the bridge and everyone goes there.
By the way, if you are walking, get back over the bridge before sundown as they open it for the night and it is a long walk back!
Sorry but wont be returning, we love Barmouth!!!
