Coastal grass query (1 Viewer)

Two questions for the nature experts:

Q1. What type of spiky coastal grass is this? I have a clump of it in my garden, about 1 metre tall, and I usually see it among sand dunes.

I'm pretty certain it's not Marram, but can't for the life of me find its name online.

Q2. Why is it so popular with wasps? They're all over it from dawn 'til dusk but don't appear to be hunting any bugs, so what's the appeal?

Looks like what we call rushes - don't know another name for it and sorry can't help with why wasps like it.

We have it all over the place here, bit of a menace in the garden but easily controllable if you keep on top iof it - not literally, although I guess that would work too

Nah.................Bog Rush looks more like this.................

If it normally grows on sandy sea shores and dunes it is likely sharp rush but if it one that normally is seen on poor, wet acid soil it will be a soft rush but not too easy to distinguish without a touchy feel

Bog Rush it is then - thanks for that. It would appear it's regarded as a weed by some.

I've no problem with it growing in the garden - I quite like the look of it and it'll keep all the other weeds company.

I'm just trying to work out why the local wasps are so keen on it.
