Is it alright to use white spirit to clean silicone sealant ?
No , not safely. But you will probably get someone who think they know better contradicting me
You might clean it right off, at least in places.
You could try this
Not used it myself but know someone that has.
Screwfix & similar sell silicone sealant remover
OP wants to CLEAN the sealer, not REMOVE it,
What dirt / marks are on the silicone?
I have a friend uses wd40! Comes up like new!
I have found the wipes sold by various shops for various cleaning jobs like kitchens or toilets will bring it up clean, and hasn't damaged it so far.
Same as white spirit, it will melt the silicone
Any solvent or petrochemical based material will have an adverse affect on silicone.
It's funny isn't it that when you want to remove silicone nothing will touch it but when you want to clean it everything will melt it or have other adverse effects.
@Seven of nine is it actually silicone or is it a PU sealant, whatever I usually find Autoglym super resin polish quite good.
Seven of nine ( great handle) where is the silicone you want to clean, van and age would help.
