OK, all those not expecting a cooker cleaning thread - straight to the naughty corner

I managed to get bits of toast embedded on the central, chrome looking, bit of my gas hob. Soapy water and sponge are not getting it off. Any recommendations for cleaning without destroying the finish?

Thanks!

Proprietary cleaner like cilit bang hob and oven cleaner might do it.
Maybe soak it overnight in soapy water first.

If you use them on a regular basis... you'll soon realise that it's a battle you'll loose in the end.. They'll discolour like this...

Just while I'm heading to the naughty corner, I tend to use these.....

....but I've got no idea if they work on cookers
