We would like to spend a few days at Chester/Chester Zoo in May, any site recommendations close to these places please, we prefer CLs, not commercial sites, preferably where we can cycle in or use the bus.

Hi, have a look here http://www.chesterlakes.co.uk it`s on the opposite side of Chester but only about 15 mins in the motorhome to the Zoo.
You can also park up in the Roodee car park next to the river and 2 mins walk and you are in the city centre, overnight parking very cheap.
There is also Fairoaks which is a small caravan club site, Astbury Villa, C&C cs site on Parkgate Road again a short cycle ride to the Zoo
