We haven't used Cherbourg since P&O pulled out, but before then used it often. There was then a park on the roundabout just outside of the port where you could park. It had toilets and showers and was very popular with Mhers using the ferry. It was a bit noisey as the road to the freight terminal ran past it.

Cherbourg Parking

Although we have not been there for a while we were always ablt to park overnight when arriving or leaving on the large carpark in front of the ferry terminal, probably still the same.

::bigsmile: I am living close to Cherbourg (10 km !). When you go out of the boat, after police and custom controls, you will arrive at a traffic circle, in front of you you will see a fuel station, close to this station you have a park with shower etc. very safe, police patrol all the night.
If you stay more long time go to "val de saire" road number : D116, at l'Anse du Brick (9 km) you will find a luxe campground "la maison rouge", very nice. On this road D116 you will see some free parks with sea looking very beautiful !
