Cherbourg aire or wild spot reccomendations

    Heading on our first trip to France in the mh this weekend!

    Excited much!

    We arrive in Cherbourg around 15.30 so looking for a recommendation of a nice wild camping spot or nearby aire

    We have the book but nice to get recommended from those who've been

    Turn left out of the docks, and head down the North and then East coast. You won't have to travel far to find what you're looking for. Head for Saint Vaaste-la-Hougue.

    get onto the D116 E bound several wild places along there or Saint Pierre Eglise aire (free and fine or a nights stop but nothing special) Barfleur aire 10euro for a carpark.

    I should mention we are heading along to the west coast planning to follow the coast all the way from Cherbourg to border.

    The border with what? If you mean Spain, that's a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way!!

    You do realise that it is Bastille day on Monday, reportedly the busiest weekend of the year in France, kids all off and all Paris heading off for their hols, if you find a site on Saturday I'd stick to it till Tuesday :wink:

    @chaser I didn't know about bastille day

    But im not planning on using campsites if I can avoid it I don't like the uniformed council estate type setting lol ...wilding and aires are my plans and never the same night in one place :)

    I suppose it depends what your looking for .....if the sun's out a nice beach will do me ...:)

    We don't get off the ferry till 3.30 on Sunday so it will probably be busy by the time I get there anyway but im sure il find somewhere

    No I know buddy any advice is welcome :) it's 22 years since I was last in france , and I was blissfully unaware of bastille day lol,
