This has been mentioned before, but worth repeating...
Just a warning...my exhaust rubber hangers have once again failed on my X250-based van. These things are rubber, which splits over time (these lasted 3 years). I was very lucky it had failed whilst parked in Storage ! There are 6 of them in total, but the main ones to fail are the two that hold the actual exhaust whre it exits the vehicle, under the drivers seat. You can either buy genuine Fiat ones at around a fiver each (these have an added metal safety strap, that catches the exhaust when, not if, the rubber fails) , or strengthened rubber only replacements for around a pound each from Partco etc.

    Here's a diagram...Number 4 is the offending item.

Mine went when we're on Italy a couple of years ago. The German on the next pitch pointed out the low hanging exhaust and we held it on with cable ties until we found a Fiat garage who were very efficient and helpful.
I thought it was just our bad luck. Now I know it's a design feature I'll check more often.

Checked today, one was broken, so replaced it and bought some as spares. We are away on Saturday so thanks for the heads up. Now I have spares I will never need them.

    Thanks Glenn.

............. and on that note if you can find some of the RED Ford variety use them on your Fiat. On certain vehicles Ford use red coloured hangers near to the engine where the exhaust is at its highest temperature. As far as I've been able to tell they are everlasting & appear to be more silicone than rubber.

Changed them couple of years ago when a three had failed and have carried spares since. But I haven't checked recently so I'll do it when I'm getting the van ready to go away this weekend - it's only a couple of minutes job. I used the cheapy ones and backed them up with big cable ties.

Thanks for the heads up though.

The safety strap is now a nylon type of braid, not metal.
