Following on from a recent thread about the falling cost of tyres.

I've just ordered 4 x Michelin Agilis Camping Green X 215/70 R 15 Q for £461 inc fitting

Added benefit of 4 x clubcard points (so 1844 points !)

Love a bargain, this seems like great value to me (y)

Interesting website. They couldn't find my reg number but entering the details manually came up with a very wide choice of tyres. The ratings for mpg and rain performance (B, C etc) are interesting, I wonder where they come from? My current tyres, Vanco Four Season, are rated E for mpg and B for rain.

I think all tyres have to be rated now...

Have noticed that all season / winter tyres have low mpg ratings - perhaps they have more rolling resistance ?

Looked at Mytyres, came back at £404 plus fitting ? Perhaps a different size ??

Clubcard points are worth a lot to me too, 1844 points is £55 towards a Eurotunnel crossing

Hi
I see they only list winter or summer tyres,
do Michelin do an 'all season' tyre??-------it's the only type we would fit now

The Michelin tyre is M & S rated, if you want an all season tyre.

Most websites are misleading and list them as summer tyres.

Same price as my local tyreman, Continentals 225 x 70 x 15 £412 fully fitted with steel valves.

Actually they are 8 pence cheaper but not sure if you get steel rustproof valves. Shhh ! Don't tell my fellow Aberdonians, I am going for the dearer option. ;)

Funny you should mention it, I had Vanco fourseasons fitted in the summer and have found that my mpg has dropped. I put it down to extra leisure batteries and other stuff I had fitted but now you have me thinking...

I'm sure it's the tyres, my mpg is reasonably constant whether loaded or empty, only variable seems to be speed.

I also have winter tyres on my Golf, mpg drops as soon as I swap in the autumn.
You can almost feel the additional resistance, on the plus side, they are great for a typical British winter.

I run two sets of tyres on the Golf as the winter ones wear too quickly in summer.

The camper tyres seem to last well regardless though, with no obvious deterioration, even during hot summers in Europe.
