Buy cheap buy twice is it? or something like that.

I have a honda, I don't expect to buy another,

But you could buy 3 of these cheaper than a Honda?

personally I would give it a miss, nothing to do with the genny but I smell a scam, bottom of page states it is a pre order and not due for delivery untill june 2012, either a continuous running add or a bit suspect at least. I'd rather pay a bit more and head off to machine mart or somewhere similar. I've learnt to be suspicious of anything on the bay that sounds to cheap for what it is

since 2006 ( I think ! )
beat me to it..
I do not think it is a scam.. I think they simply forgot to update the advert and have used an old one..
With the telephone number plastered all over the advert and an address to hand, I really cannot see there being an issue

just google earthed it and sure enough it came up on an industrial estate so maybe all is well and I'm just overly cautious, does sound cheap though so I wonder what spares are like as I have read that some of these cheaper models can develop circuit board faults.

Assume no spares. You pays your money......

Just how hard do you intend to work it is a good question. If "a lot" then maybe go for known quality. If "now and again" it's what I'd gamble on. And I did but in the end never used it so sold it on.

For "not a lot" the real problem is dried up gunge in the carb. First time I tried to use my cheapo, started once, genny it would not start. The service engineer told me how to strip and clean the carb. The jets are so small a hair would clog them.

Spares may be an issue. Best buy a branded generator. We needed a new pull mechanism for our Sterling generator. Phoned them and the part was here next day.

cheap gennys

Cheap no good

Good no cheap

I have used Honda for the last thirty years, properly maintained they last forever, there will in most towns and citys be a Honda agent,if you need a spare part it will be next day delivery, the only parts that I have bought were a air filter a plug and its annual oil change.
