Have recently aquired a 97 HR Vacationer powered by a 7.4ltr petrol Ford V8 with mileage of 51,000::bigsmile:

My question is when should the cam belts be changed Is it like most cars around 40-50k??

unless you have a service record showing when it was last changed, if it needed to be, then i'd change it for piece of mind.
thats a lot of possible bent valves if its an interference engine.:Eeek:

if it actually has a belt.....a lot of big yank engines still use a chain

I could be wrong, but I doubt the cams belt driven, as PJ said Yanks run chains normally:thumb:
