Can anyone tell me if it is mandatory to fix a warning or hazard sign onto our bikes when we are carrying them on the rear of the motorhome when travelling in France?

Thanks:Smile:

I do not think it is mandatory in France, but it is in Italy and, I believe, in Spain. As JCM has said, the plastic square sign is cheap and therefore well worth using for your own peace of mind, regardless of the law in France.

One small point that I have never understood. Fiamma sell two types. One is plastic, printed red on white and is cheap: the other is aluminium, reflective red on white, and costs quite a lot more. Since the country where you must use one is Italy, and Fiamma is an Italian company, why do they sell the plastic one that does not meet the Italian regulations? Italy requires the sign to be reflective, and to have red reflective discs in the corners.

Looks like Fiamma make one which fulfills the regulations in Italy - the Ali one - and one (much cheaper) for people to use elsewhere, where they are not mandatory but elective.

Keeps the Italians happy and gives the rest of us a bit of plastic to spend money on at shows.

Cheapo one does have reflectors, dear one is 'certified' and expensive!

Rear signal made from plastic material with 4 reflectors.
Dimensions cm: 50 x 50

I know, I've got the cheap one. But when I bought it, I did not realise that it failed to meet Italian regulations. Just assumed that because Fiamma made it, it would be OK for their home country. My fault for not checking more carefully.
