Announced today that the French foodstore chain, Carrefour, is to extend further into Spain by purchasing 36 supermarkets from Spanish giant Eroski. Deal is subject to approval by Spanish government but is expected to get the nod.
Good news for us as it will include our local Eroski Centro Commercial bringing a wider range of European foodstuffs and as the site includes a petrol station ....... Discounted diesel!!!
    Bring it on Carrefour!!

Yes they are desperate to unload everything except the originals in the Basque country to reduce debt. They sold 200 last year In Castilla La Mancha to Día for 161 million.
Is there a list somewhere of what ones they are selling as I'd like to know whether mine up the road is included? Had a look but cannot find anything.

Thanks for link. Yes 2 changing , but which as by all account sthere are 3 ?? It does say Hipermarkets though so would assume the 2 big ones.
The one they built at the end of my road , the Parque Almenara, has probably never covered the staff wages in the 7 years it has been open .
Aldi's are working 7 days a week on building/opening a new store in Lorca ,yet Eroski's is like a dead duck.
