My cooker knob for the electric hob has been loose for ages getting more and more difficult to turn but yesterday it tripped the electric twice when i switched it off after cooking on it , I've switched off the electric going to it. The 3 gas hobs work fine on it when lighting them with a gas lighter. All the other electric sockets in the van work fine with that one switched off. Any ideas from you clever people? Please?

It sounds to me that the switch has failed and not breaking the supply properly causing an earth fault.
Unless you are sure what you are doing you really need an electrician to test it properly.

As above.
Don't mess with electrics or gas, the results of amateurs messing about can be catastrophic.

Get it checked or replace the faulty kit.
