We're going to the Canterbury Park and Ride for the first time in a couple of weeks and wonder if there is a good place to walk the dogs nearby?
    Thanks
    Mags

Not really Mags. we stopped there on our way out. We just walked the dogs around the extended part of the P&R.

Thanks Rita. We'll stop on our way and give them a run so that we can go to the pub in peace once we're parked up. ;)

Its at the end of a residential area, lots of roads if you don't mind walking them on pavements. There is a road through fields over the main road, but if you are looking for a park for them to run around, there isn't one close by.

The school grounds next to p&r are massive , with rabbits to chase also .
Please pick up after your dog though , obviously .

That's not very nice - suggesting that someone takes their dog to crap on school grounds. Picking up don't make it any better. Do your kids go to that school and play on that grass?

We walked ours into town and back. The pub just outside the P&R isn't dog friendly at all so they can't go in there.

As you walk into town there are pubs on the right hand side of the road. The first one isn't great, the second one is good and is dog friendly.

We always pick up but wouldn't go into a school playground to walk them. Thanks for thinking of us though.

Thanks for that. Plenty of options.

The pub that isn't so good is the Bat and Ball opposite the cricket ground.

The nice one is the Phoenix. About a mile or so from the P&R.

We ate in the pub outside the P&R and I'm trying to remember why we didn't like it but it's slipping my mind at the moment.

No real ale, red wine was good though.

That might have been it. Was the service really slow as well?

We're planning to eat out but the park and ride bus stops at 7.30 p.m. Hence the thought of going to a local pub.

We went in the pub outside (Old Gate Inn) in May last year and they had Doombar on. Very expensive though compared to prices for the same beer in other pubs.

We had a meal there, when we stop at the P & R last year, good food and a great way to start your holiday. Hope you have a great holiday over the water. (y)

Thanks David. It's my partner's birthday the next day so thought it would be nice to eat out. Usually I'm super careful with money at the start of the holiday LOL ;)
