Hi has anyone been to the park and ride aire on Dover rd in Canterbury?
We're wondering if there is a pub walking distance ?

There is a pub at the entrance to the Park and Ride.

And not to save the £3(it is great value)
But if you arrive late and the Motorhome Parking is closed
You can park in there carpark overnight

@Jac Sprat Yup, nice pub with nice food (Southern prices )
You will see the pub as you turn into the entrance to the P&R. It's about a 3 minute walk from where you park the MH. You will also pass the Loos at the bus stop on your way. Handy for a 'sit-down toilet' to save using the MH loo. These toilets are only open during operating hours of the car park, so don't wait until it's pub chucking out time! .

Use it all the time but it closes at 8.00 p.m. (you can still get out if necessary) and I understand you can't get in on a Sunday. Never seen it anywhere near full but suggest you don't leave it until last-minute, especially at weekends and in season.

Always have a meal at The Gate although it's not the cheapest. Provided the P+R is operating you can use it for free to go into Canterbury for a better choice of eateries.

what is the payment system on this aire. do you obtain a ticket when you enter and pay at the machine just prior to leaving. If so for instance is arrived at 5pm and left at 8am does it ask for £4 in payment . IE £1 for arriving after 4pm and £3 for the 24hrs after midnight.

The pricing used to be £3 for 24 hrs but has now changed as outlined in posts 6 & 7
