Doesn't look like a safe place to travel ..

Safety and Security - Road Travel
If you want to drive a car you will need to obtain a local permit. Do not use public transport other than taxis recommended by your hotel. Overland travel outside major cities should be avoided at night, as buses and other vehicles have been attacked, sometimes at illegal vehicle checkpoints. It is advisable to travel in a convoy of at least two to three vehicles. Sustained small-scale attacks, including bombings, illegal roadblocks and kidnapping occur in many rural parts of the country.

The border between Morocco and Algeria has been closed now for about 19 years. More a political than a danger thing. There is talk of a re-open but don’t hold your breath. All other country borders are open, but.............

Yes, they have their problems, but who doesn’t. Scare stories, mostly inaccurate, do not stop many going there and it has become a favourite for the 4x4 and overlanders.
Algeria, like Libya, is a fascinating country. I have been to both quite a few times and had wonderful time. I think the lack of an extensive road network means it is of limited value to Mhome’ers.

Like most say...........Morocco!

Thanks for your help guys
It looks like things are the same as they were when we were around there !!!!!!!!!!!
I was hoping things had improved !!---------looks like they will have to either decide on one of the two--or cough-up for extra ferries---------our friends are also going to Russia---but by plane.
