Saw it in the mountains near Teruel, Spain.

Six feet from a river and in a shady wood.

Early June this year.

I thought an Iris just has a single triple flower at the top and green foliage?

Only on fone so cannot copy link. I just found foto of some iris found by waters edge with multiple flowers down stem.. so iris looking like best bet until someone comes along more knowledgeable than @jumartoo or I.

I have googled wild Iris and I think Joy and Judith are definitely on the right track and all I need to do is find which Iris it is.

I think it's a species of orchid called the Violet Limodore. They have no chlorophyll and are thought to saprophytic or possibly parasitic
