We take two satnavs with us, just in case of failure of one, and for no good reason they are a Tom Tom and a Garmin. We tour Europe with them and very often we do not have a campsite pre-assigned or booked. We occasionally use the satnav POI to find the nearest campsite if we're just looking for an overnight stop and this can work well but while the Garmin seems to have better campsite data, neither of the satnavs are comprehensive and it can be hit or miss whether we pick up anything local.

So, just wondering if any funsters have loaded campsite POI's onto either their Tom Tom or Garmin and which POI's dataset you used? I think Alan Rodgers does one and wonder if this is the best or whether there are other alternatives, and which ones have municipal sites and Aires. (PS - I know there are other ways of finding sites and we do use these but this method also works well for us and we'd just like to improve the POIs database).

    Thanks!

Campercontact is all you need for Europe, aires and municipals .. you can download the POIs from the site..

The phone app also works great.. works off line .. it has an annual cost of about a fiver.. but well worth it

Archies camping is good for sites

Archies Camping is the one to use, a free download with over 30000 campsites
