Setting out for Scotland in mid May and intend to visit Skye on our way to the far northwest of Scotland.
Looking for suggestions for campsites on Skye, the only criteria is they must be close to the sea shore as I intend to do some sea fishing.
Look forward to your suggestions, we are in the c&cc.

The club site is very nice, close to salt water, but couldn't really be classified as shore line.
You're never far from the sea on Skye...

Second vote for Glenbrittle. We also used Sligachan, and it's basic but OK, but not particularly close to the sea.

Went to glenbrittle last year. Parked on hardstanding with hookup next to toilet block. After paying stayed a couple of hours & then departed location is lovely but not our cup of tea.

It was very busy & even in the couple of hours we were there we got fed up with the toilet doors banging perhaps we should have moved pitches but as it was quite full we decided to leave.

The site at dunvegan is right next to the sea our friends really liked it but as we had 3 dogs last time we were on skye there isn't a dog walk there & they have to be walked on the road, now we're down to 2 dogs it is more feasible to go there

That's the joy of a motorhome, no need to park so close to the facilities but appreciate everyone has there own take on requirements(y).

The hard standing area is small in comparison to the rest of the site. We pitched ourselves as far away from anyone and as already mentioned it's very basic but to be less than 50yards from the beach, is worth its weight in gold.

View looking back to the site from the beach.

We were on Skye last year and spent four nights wild-camping parked right by the sea in two different locations so don't think you have to use a campsite, because you don't. We simply chose our spots and parked up for the night. It was absolutely beautiful and we fully intend to go back. Hope you have a great time.

Sky is fabulous Island.. there are plenty of places to park up for the night..

Glenbrittle .. great location, walking and climbing.. also visit the Fairy Pools.. on the road there..

but when we were there the toilet block and showers which are basic were always busy and filthy with walkers washing boots and hiking kit.. we were using a tent so had no option but to use..

I'm sure some of the people using facilities were not on the site, I watched some walking away to parked cars..

If we go back in the van would stay well away from the toilet block .. and not bother with hard standing or paying for EHU ..

£9 per night per adult
Children £6
EHU £6

Not really into wild camping for a number of reasons, but I could probably do the odd night.

The C&CC site at Loch Greshornish is very pleasant.
We stayed for a few days on our last Scottish trip about 3 years ago and really enjoyed it. It is right on the shore of the loch with lovely views and very friendly owners/managers.
We hope to return in a few weeks time as well as trying some more spots on Skye.

Richard.

The toilets there are for public use. But only site residents are supposed to have the code to access the showers. That was the situation when we were there last month, anyway.

We stayed one night at Glenbrittle. the location was great but the coffee shop mentioned online is nothing much, the campsite is basic to say the least and the cost very expensive for ehat it is. The road there not great. A lot of he over not much in our opinion so we moved on the next day. The best thing was the dog enjoyed the beach.

The first 3 walks on this page are from Glen Brittle

It's not a place for just sitting under the awning, it's true.

that may well be, doesn't change the fact that when we visited they were being used by all and sundry and filthy ..

door code locks are a waste of time.. as soon as someone who has the code goes in others without follow..

The walks look amazing. But the fact remains that the site is expensive for the facilities it provides. But probably worth going to if you want those particular walks.

Depends what you want really. Glen Brittle leads you into The Cuillin which is an important area for serious climbers.
And of course you don't have to stick to those designated walks; you can follow your map & compass.
Spectacular photography opportunities.
It works for some, not for others - as every other type of site does.
