Thinking of having a few days sightseeing in london, could anyone recommend a good site that we can use and get into london by train or underground?

thanks

Crystal Palace, stayed there last month, great site, quiet and right on the edge of crystal palace park if you have a dog to walk. Couple of minutes walk to Number 3 bus stop takes you straight to Oxford Circus or stops outside Brixton tube if you want to get around that way. We bought oyster cards and found it cheaper that way than buying one day travel cards. Bus journey was only £1.84 for a single journey anywhere, amazing value.

Whereever you decide have fun

Both Abbeywood, and Crystal palace are inside the Low Emission Zone, LEZ, so beware, you could face a hefty fine if your not Euro 5.
It happened to me last year, although I was let off with a warning !

We always used Abbey Woods (good train journey to Waterloo/London Bridge/Cannon Street) or Crystal Palace (bus to Victoria). [Both CC]

However, as we live north of the river, we tried Commons Wood (Hatfield) [CC]. The money saved on fuel & Dartford Crossing was more than offset by the extra train/taxi fare.

We tried Lea Valley but weren't keen on the ambience: straight line pitches, close together, "old" facilities. The transport (bus; tube) was less convenient.

Horses for courses I'm guess. - Gordon
