If you fancy an eccentric but quite fun site you can try Camping Canada at Turre. It's near Mojacar and Garrucha. We stayed there for three weeks in 2013. It has about 30 level gravel pitches with fabulous views to the mountains. There were about half a dozen others there in March.

There is EHU. The water is strictly not for drinking. You also have to dispose of your own rubbish. It's a bit eccentric if you like all the home comforts, but it is welcoming and cheerful.

There was a small core of very nice British people who go for a few months every year. One of them collected water from the local village springs and brought it back for general use.

We found it a great place to chill after too long a period frantically looking at the sites.

The owner is called Geoff or Jeff (never asked). I think it was 13 euros a night.

Turre has the usual facilities and a very good supermarket. Stiff with expats (some call it Angloturre).
