Does anyone know if Camping Santillana del Mar is open?

We stayed there at this time last year but I seem to remember someone saying a few weeks ago that it was closed!:Eeek:

Anyone got any update on that please?

We're on the Plymouth Santander ferry next Sunday and want somewhere to stay for the 1st night (Monday) but don't want to drive as far as Salamanca!

Thanks Alan - we're looking for a campsite - don't really like wild camping.

Marie we stayed there last year but we found when you drive away from there was a place not too far from there called Le Pub (sort of around the corner homeward direction and it advertised camping, looked large enough , we had intended if that way to try

I think the problem around there though is that most sites have closed for the winter

I'll have a look on t'interweb for that one Kath - thanks!

    Ha Ha!! :Rofl1: :Rofl1:

Yes I am an OAP but:-

for the sake of a few quid I like to know

    a) we're not going to get moved on in the dark. :Eeek:
    b) we have a bit more security for the van if we decide to go for a walk off-site and leave our home!
    c) Rex prefers to use the on-site facilities rather than the motorhome (MY bathroom!!) :Rofl1::Rofl1:

We do usually and this year we were going to go Plymouth Roscoff and visit friends on the way down.

Unfortunately my cousin died down here in Cornwall so we had to cancel the ferry and wait for the funeral which is this Saturday.

So we are now going Plymouth Santander.

Not really looking forward to the ferry crossing - I can get sea-sick on a canal boat tied up to a towpath!:Eeek::Eeek:
We did it this time last year too and I was OK then - smooth crossing - can it happen twice???

this image looks very much like the building, but sorry no more info, it was as we were on a bend and to our right and it had very large sign on the wall saying Le Pub and camping

Their rates page list a high season and "rest of year".

This came up this time last year, we spotted what looks like an aire a mile away in the middle of town. Calle de Jesus Otero.

Fingers crossed for a good crossing.

PS...... Booking dates selector suggests they are open.

Just found La Posada Los Calderones on-line and it's just a hotel (and it's closed from 5th October for refurbishment!)

    I'll keep hunting

I know Brian - we stayed there last year - but someone on here has said it's closed!
An Aire in town might be dodgy - it's a bloomin' narrow town!! :Eeek:

Thanks Maurice - I'll certainly have a look at that one - don't mind having a bit of a drive but not as far as Salamanca!

Easy to find. And a nice Cafe/Bar at the entrance..

During the winter they dont have all the shower blocks open so check before you set up..

The first time we went there we parked right down the end and the only block that was open was near the entrance.. Bit of a walk..:Blush:
