We came very close to becoming a statistic in France a few weeks ago when our fridge wiring caught fire. Luckily we had stopped in a layby for a coffee and a fag (who says smoking is not good for you) and spotted it straight away and extinguished it. If this had happened at night when we were asleep it could have been terminal.:Eeek:

Johns Cross have identified the cause - a leaking gas solenoid valve, the leaking gas was ignited from the burner (which is on the opposite side of the fridge) and the resulting small flame melted the insulation on the 12v wiring and caused a short .
