After recent events in the news should i be worried about our return home via Calais at the end of July?? Really looking forward to our first trip abroad in the MH but could really do without some of these immigrants trying to hitch a lift back to our shores!!!

Dont suppose the French police would like the idea of me bringing the baseball bat on our trip would they?

Yea the wife is looking for alternatives now. Fortunately the return trip was only about 40 quid so wont lose much if we get another crossing

Don't worry, the news is highlighting an issue exacerbated by industrial action at Calais.
Use common sense & be viligent and you'll have no problems.
There is a problem undeniably but the press, as ever, tend to over dramatise.

Tend to agree, but it didnt look as though the media put any spin on those immigrants breaking into the backs of trucks and hitting the cabs and abusing the drivers earlier on??
As the reporter said earlier in the news its as though the french authorities are not that bothered.

Hmm, the reports I saw showed the drivers evicting their stowaways... And the commentary reported the police were pushing back the migrants.
It's a serious issue, no doubt but take a sensible common sense attitude & you'll be fine...

When we recently returned to the UK via the tunnel and as we had parked at Cite Europe , border control / customs offered would we like them to check if any immigrants were hiding on board..

We always use Portsmouth Caen when we go to France. If you take off the cost of the extra miles going via Dover via the dreaded M25, and then the extra mileage and toll fees back to Rouen there is very little difference in overall cost but much more relaxing.
