Anyone else having a problem getting the necessary forms from DVLA to apply to maintain their C1 entitlement, it is now three weeks since I wrote to them requesting the forms, which I believe are not available from the post office, and nothing. I think it is fair to say the DVLA is no longer fit for purpose unless you want to do a simple re- taxing of your car.

PM me if it would help:Wink:

I downloaded the forms onto a monochrome printer and they were accepted without question, you don't actually need the originals sent out by DVLA.

thanks ever so much John but there is just so much rubbish talked about the DVLA now and one version is that there is no access at Swansea for callers true or not I do not know and apparently one form has a plastic sleeve that cannot be down loaded. Fact or urban myth I wish I knew

Larry the one that Leslyjean has kindly posted is the D4 form which is down loadable on line but there is also required a mystical D2 form which contains a plastic pocket that can only be obtained from the DVLA or this is what I have been led to believe---- If anyone approaching 70 years of age and wants to retain the right to drive over 3500 Kg and knows any different please pass on the information as even DVLA are offering conflicting stories

    Cheers Alan

Hi Alan, that could be the application form that accompanies the D4 Medical. the only thing on the website that comes anywhere near it is the D47P but not sure about that , I will keep searching

    regards

Larry not sure about a D47P but DVLA will send you a I believe a D46P two months before your birthday but filling this in will not give you the C1 bit on your licence. Keep searching we may come up with a definitive answer eventually.

If you await the DVLA and want to go abroad for winter then I am afraid we will be too late

The other form needed is a D2 Form which needs to be ordered from DVLA.

You cannot download it as it has a clear plastic square that you attach your photograph to.

Fill in form D2 along with the D4 and proof of identity etc and send them off together to the DVLA:Smile:

    Good luck:thumb:

Hi Alan when my licence was due in December 2011 my renewal would have interfered with winters in Spain so I bought it forward to august.
I was told how difficult it was to renew so I rang up D.v.l.a.in Swansea and they sent me forms D2 and D4 by return of post and when filled in by my doctor my new licence with ci entitlement was returned in 4 days.
I could' nt fault the service
    Alan

Its very cruel of you to give these boys false hope
The little plastic bit is to keep photo dry when you kiss your licence good by:Rofl1:

I don't recall having to send a photo at all-I seem to remember there was some option to authorise them to use passport pic-which is on file.

From what I have gleaned so far it really can depend on who handles it down at Swansea it is becoming apparent that so many down there do not have a clue what they are doing.
