Having sold our souls for the Campscout I've made the first modifaction by removing the bikerack - what a pain the backside it was being mounted on the back door what with having to duck everytime it was opened / closed. Also, mounted ridiculously high - I'd need to carry a step to be able to get the bikes up there.

On the plus side taking it off saved 9kg which I can better use for wine.

But what about the bikes? I picked up a couple of folding bikes in a sale. At only 15kg each we save another 14kg of weight against our trekking bikes.

My advice, if your bikerack offends you take it off :D.

Will you be able to swing a cat once your 2 bikes are loaded.?

The extra weight you created for wine will be taken up in storage space for the bikes.

Correct. Something has to go. Nice wine cupboard under the fridge. Who needs clothes? ;)

Hedged my bets now - going for a towbar bike rack which we can use as and when we think we need the inside storage. It should be able to swing out of the way of the doors according to the local dealer so we'll test that before buying it.
