How would you go about getting the engine checked out and a Damp check done?

I asked on the German Hymer forum. Got this reply;

Many German motorhome dealers offer the so called "Campercheck".
This is a complete check of all systems, including engine, interior and tightness (damp check).
The owner of the vehicle can have this done for approx. 100 euros; he receives a certificate with about 100 checked items and an estimate of the vehicle value.
Our AA equivalent (ADAC) also offers vehicle checks as well as various organizations who do the legally required semiannual road safety checks; however, they normally only check the "front end" of the vehicle.

You should ask the seller to have such a check done and provide you with the respective certificate.
