Hello. The dial on the Truma is set for winter, which means the heater will work without water in the boiler.
It kick in, green light on. It picks up speed then the orange light comes on and everything cuts out. Any advice welcome. It worked fine last time it was required. Thanks

Not an expert on Truma heaters, but the 'winter' setting on a Webasto is to heat water AND air.

Have you got it the right way round? There may have been water left in the boiler the last time you used it. The water might be gone now because the frost valve dumped it.

I've just re read the manual and the single flame without the wiggley

On that flame without wiggly setting heater will heat up the air. The water will also get warm but temp of water will not be monitored. If the gas is low pressure or fails you will get a red lamp. If the air stat setting is on Max the fan will blow lots assuming van is cold. If van is warmish and air stat is only just calling for heat fan will be slow and for us inaudible. This on gas only truma 6 circa 2012.
According to our truma instructions in that setting the yellow lamp only comes on if water temp below 5deg C.

Thankyou but I think it was an air lock, as it seems to be ok now
