I have been considering a hymer coachbuilt with large overcab bed, due to the build quality.

However someone suggested a Euromobil 580LS as it has the same layout we are looking for - bench + dinette.

I know little about Euromobils and wondered what the build quality is like and how they compare with say Hymer and Rollerteam, e.g. bodywork/cabinetry/insulation etc.

I would be grateful for any opinions.

Euramobil are amongst the top German manufacturers, beating Hymer in Getman magazine surveys. IMO far better construction methods then the other 2 you mention. Just have a look at their site. They use light aircraft technology and glue the panels together rather then screw into wood. No wood in frame - light aluminium frame that does not rot. GRP walls and roof - much stronger and more resistant to damage then aluminium. fully winterised to EN 1646 - double floor - tanks within the double floor and all pipe work as well. Better windows and handles etc.....

They may be a bit plain to look at but the quality is where it counts

Hi, from the couple I have seen I personally would rate them as good if not better than Hymer :thumb: both german built but for me the Euro one is a bit more modern looking :thumb:

O sorry! Lovely big van, i am jealous but restricted to 3500kg due to diabetes:Sad:

it gets confusing as different models sometimes have the same numbers/letters. I was in a really big one last year and it was a 660HB and a stretched identical layout to ours

Hi, It may look big, but its only 6.72m and it was 3500 but we had it put up to 3800. ::bigsmile: We wanted the big garage for the bikes, we got fed up with them rusting up hanging on the back of our last van.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Jane likes driving this one it has the sprintshift gear box, although I have been trying to get her to have an automatic car for 27 years, and her telling me she does not like them ( having never driven one ). But now she has a Smart as well, but very rarely touches the gear stick.::bigsmile: And sometimes try's to tell me she cant drive my car being a manual, but I keep her in practice and just get in the passenger seat.:roflmto: Bob.

mine has the same layout and is 6.6 m long. the garage is huge and takes our expensive E Bikes, my teenagers bikes and a load more stuff - it is brilliant and I cant imagine living with a van without one. It keeps the interior free of clutter and comfortable.......

Thanks

Thanks for your opinions.
Euromobils clearly are a quality van.

The one I am looking at has a 2.2 transit 110bhp engine. This is the same engine that gave me 34 mpg average on my previous low profile Rollerteam 200 (2008 model).

What mpg do you think I would get from the 580LS with it's having such a large overcab.
(I have a very light foot, use cruise whenever possible and do 60mph max) ?

I have a heavy foot, there are 4 of us and all the kit in a bigger van, with the 2.2 130 bhp motor and we get approx 23 mpg? you should get 30'ish? maybe some one who has one would know, but it wont be as good as a low profile.........
