Thank you all,

I took him along early this morning (he even manage to jump into the car after an awful night) he had to have an oral camera down his throat and the vet found his tummy full of blood from a tummy cancer, she phoned while he was asleep so we let him go then.

Irina (my ex) & I got along there by about 11am, he looked at peace bless him, Irina left his favourite teddy with him, he loved teddy's and a certain rabbit

This fella has seen me through a tough ten years with family, health and finances.

I will never forget him, he was more than a dog he was my PAL

You did the right thing by him as always John. I cried yesterday and I cried this morning when Pete told me. I'm siffing now too. I feel even more sad because I'll never get to meet the guy now and I would have liked to.

I think it speaks volumes when you see 60 posts and 8 pages of them on this thread.

RIP Bruno.

Sorry to hear the news John.

We met you and Bruno a couple of years ago at a meet near Scunthorpe and saw what a wonderful character he was. He will be missed.

That's a great photo of him.

Take care.

One for the keyring! Let him join you always.

You did what was best, I know it is hard now but just remember the great times, the joy and love you gave each other. What more would a dog ever want?

sorry to hear of your sad loss of losing bruno, your best friend and companion for many years.
People think your mad when you get upset when losing a dog, but they become part of your life and you do get very attached to them, we lost our shih tzu/yorkie in 2009 after 17 long years, he will never be replaced and miss him loads.
take care John ad see you around xx

Sorry to hear this. Looked a lovely dog.

I lost my first German Shepherd when I was 17 and thought my life was over.

It wasn't of course but I still think about her.

Good luck.

Bruno

Hi John, So sorry that Bruno has gone. Haven't met either of you and sadly will not get to meet Bruno now, but I look forward to meeting you some day. A few years ago, when our last dog had come to the end of the line, my head knew what had to be done but my heart didn't agree. Someone gave me this poem and it helped :-

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can't be won

You will be sad, I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stands the test.

We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears.
Would you want me to suffer? So
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only stay with me to the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
It is a kindness that you do to me
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve it should be you
Who must decide this thing to do
We've been so close, we two these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

You were obviously devoted to Bruno and I'm sure he was devoted to you. He will remain with you and you with him until you both finally meet up again. But I'm sure Bruno doesn't want that reunion to be too soon and neither does any of us - so take care of yourself - for Bruno's sake and for ours. And don't be surprised if he sends along a friend for you to look after, just like you looked after him.

Seems about time again I said thanks you all again for the postings, pictures, emails, PM's and phone calls received about my lad.
This thread alone highlights just how kind and goodhearted Funsters are. TBO I am on the deck but just reading these has made things easier. All around the house is Bruno from beds to toy's and even biscuits he has hidden.
I had plans for this year but feeling pretty much like saying to hell with it all but who knows?
One things for sure my life will never be the same without him and am a richer person for having had him in my life.

Thnanxs again all you Funsters

You're FREE. Free to enjoy yourself. When was the last time you could just do what you wanted to without worrying about others.

It'll take a bit of getting used to and sorting out what you need for the future, but make the most of it, you've only got one life.
