Hi Chris,

Thanks for such a speedy reply - yes that would be great!

Your PM seems to have disappeared though.

If you have not received my PM it maybe something to do with not having paid the Fun subscription yet?

I would not give a ferry code away to someone you don't know. You never know who's asking and could forever lose the right to a discount yourself. To help a subscriber who has been around for a while is one thing, but a new members first post, that could be a fishing expedition!

Not saying that is the case in this instance @treforest but that was not really a good way to introduce yourself to the club. But welcome anyway, I'm sure if you stick around you'll reap the benefits. (y) Welcome to the Fun :)

Oh my goodness.

I was about to subscribe but won't bother now after reading the last 2 posts.

Do you always search for the negative in people?

I have been motor homing for over 20 years and sadly your attitude reflects what I have begun to see over the past 5 to 10 years in many campsites.

With respect . . . . why not subscribe first . . . & then introduce yourself, become a part of the FUN community & then ask a favour ?

That seems the polite & reasonable course of action to us.
Next time a fellow motorhomer asks me a favour I'll ask them to buy me lunch first before I consider whether I will help.

No of course not, rather we look after our members, the codes you ask for are not supposed to be shared. Members in the past have had their membership from the Brittany Ferries scheme relinquished for unwittingly sharing them here.

Treforest,
"I have been motor homing for over 20 years" How do we know? Who are you?
The BF Club Voyage scheme is 'worth' an awful lot of money. It costs money to join and could be removed by BF if considered that it is being abused.
Members on here are exactly that. Members of an organisation that is well respected and has even legal standing when it comes to motorhome matters.
As my good lady says, "Reverse the situation" So someone knocks on YOUR door, never seen them before in your life and asks you the same question as you are asking.
You don't know them. Is it really looking for the negative to suggest that you join the Club first. It's not an awful lot to ask (considering the money YOU will save.)

Out of interest, how much discount does the code normally provide?

10% discount which may not sound much but peak fares for a large rig can be £700 return

Thanks. The price that I was quoted was over £600 each way  peak time :(

As a member we saved £120+ coming back from Bilbao this year. So even with only a friend discount the savings can be worth it.

Do you get anything off accommodation or is it just 30% off vehicle?

Nothing off accommodation sadly and the price of the accommodation varies with the season as well as the crossing

Would anyone be willing to share a code with me (PM)? I would be interested to see how much the trip would cost for us.

The price for us including cabins was £1500 return. With the code, it was £1350. A good saving. If we were to do it by driving the return trip would cost approx. £300 in fuel, £200 in crossings and 5 days of driving. For us the drive is worth it as we tend to take 3 weeks but if we didn't have that much time, the ferry looks like an option.

There have been quite a few of these recently.

People register, aren't even polite enough to say hello, instead just demand a code with their first post and then get the arse when it's suggested that they might like to subscribe first.

@Jim Can they even receive a PM? If they can then could that be switched off? That might solve it.

In many cases, the cost of getting a personal membership yourself pays for itself, as you get 30% discount as the card holder. After the first year, take off the joining cost, and just pay the annual subscription, and you will be quids in.
Do the math!!!
Just putting it out there!

Its a £100 to join and £120/year. You save up to 30% of the cost so you would be ahead on your first trip.

Up to 15% discount for associate which cost £65/year.

The savings would be roughly similar. As a member we also get a free breakfast :0)

But I agree with what has been said earlier - don't pass your discount out to strangers - you really don't know what they are going to do with it.

They could even put it on ebay.
