Had text from BF yesterday that our sailing from Bilbao due for tomorrow is delayed for 24 hours due to bad weather. They are due to text again this afternoon with update.

Does anyone know if they give any money back for this. Bit of a pain as we need to get back for work and school but at least we get another day in the sun

I doubt that they will offer any compensation because of delays due to bad weather.

When mine was cancelled from Santander they offered a full refund or an alternative date. We chose to drive back to the tunnel as the earliest date was nearly a week away.

They are talking about this on our local radio currently because condor has smashed into the docks at Poole
this is taken from Brittany's website
iv) In the event of a delay in scheduled arrival time
Excluding adverse weather condition endangering the safe operation of the ship or extraordinary circumstances which are unavoidable, delays in the arrival time passengers may request compensation of 25% of the price paid for the delayed service if: a 1 hour delay on a 4 hour journey, 2 hour delay on a 4 to 8 hour journey, 3 hour delay on a 8 to 24 hour journey and a 6 hour delay a journey of more than 24 hours. The compensation shall be 50% if the delays are twice the above.

Looks like bad weather is the escape clause. But you could always ask. Try their live chat or email customer services.

I have been told by our pals who got put off in Rosscoff there is a clause in BF terms that states in adverse weather their contract is to get you across the channel and if the weather warrants it any port is what you get. Pete

We were 5 hours late into Santander in early December but we had been late leaving Portsmouth, the weather was appalling, and we were kept informed both before and during the sailing. We were really glad of the new aire at Santander marina as it was 10.15 pm when we got going.

We didn't ask for- or expect- any compensation.

We were given a couple of bottles of water while waiting at Portsmouth !
