An exit height of 14,000 he passed level one and level two is up in few minutes::bigsmile: ::bigsmile: atta boy:thumb:

Is that like number ones and number twos ?

I think I'd qualify for number twos at 14,000 feet.

Glider pilots turn on the oxygen at 10,000 feet. So are parachutists seriously hard cases ?

I suppose the brain needs more oxygen to control an aircraft at high altitude than it does to plummet like a bloody stone at terminal velocity' :Eeek:

Between 12 and 14 is pretty standard these days, no oxygen required, the planes climb too quickly and you are only at the top for a very short time. I once got out at just under 16000ft in Spain, I was hungover and, because we went around again at altitude we were up there for quite a while and I got little a hypoxic. It soon leaves you in Freefall though::bigsmile:

We're almost home from the Northern Show, I think I might have a meal and head back to England and surprise James in the morning.

Just got these pics of James. ::bigsmile: This is his third Jump. If he is OK and stable they let him go, if they don't feel they can let you go then he fails that level, and you need a re-jump and as these cost north of £200 they are to be avoided.

The secondary instructor (also the cameraman) let go quickly, and James started work on his turns, his alti shows him to be over 10,000ft in this first shot.

As you can see, he's clearly enjoying himself.

Flying on his own, the instructor looks as pleased as James is happy

He's just passed level 4, and will do level 5 this evening if the thunderstorms stay away. Unbeknown to James, me and Siân will be at the dropzone in the morning::bigsmile:

Great pictures.

He's in trouble, you're in trouble, from now he'll always be looking up - "Great jump day" "Crap jump day".

I assume it's a good bit cheaper without the chaperones.

What a achievement and to save up for it himself makes it all the more special, though with a mum and dad like you two, I am not at all surprised

James finished his course.::bigsmile: He did exceptionally well, going straight through the program with no re-jumps. [well chuffed] He is now a bone-fide 'skydiver' he did four jumps yesterday on his own (part of a consolidation program) he has also passed his packing course and is packing his own parachute.

Well done to James!! He's waited years for that - what an achievement to save up for it himself too. Amazing lad - but with you two as parents it's not surprising :winky::winky:

There can't be anything more mind focussing than doing that.

As his hand goes for the release next time..... "Now did I do ..... and was that the right way round..... and...."

For those who have not seen this done, imagine trying to put a baby back in, complete with umbilical.

As a matter of interest, what is the cost per minute ?

How hight ?

How long to ground ?

Dare you answer this ?

Might be cheaper to go F1 racing.

Once you have your own gear a jump costs around £20 but £35 if you are renting club gear. From 14,000ft you are in free-fall for about 60 seconds. The canopy ride, maybe 2 to 10 minutes, your choice. ::bigsmile:
