cuts cost and cuts weight.
best option is buy a wheel and tyre to suit your base vehicle as some breakdown companies require a serviceable spare before they do their job.
the 'puncture fix in a tin' stuff, which seems to be replacing the spare wheel, is useless if you have a blowout and shred the tyre.
