Boom arm (£89) table mod Rapido7090F

Wife always complained of a lack of space with such a big table so out it came finally.
I angled the bracket for the table top (Ikea chopping board £8)
CA_08131412171590-XL.jpg

So that it fits square to the cushion when used as a side table.

The angle also makes it spot on to the seating position when swung around.

So much more space !!!!!!

So looking at the plate in the floor you have removed the proper table altogether?
Or is there some clever quick release idea to change them over?

The plate covers where the leg went. I made a large hole under the base plate last year to strengthen the floor.
I won't be putting it back in and it weighs a ton too. I have two Rapido folding table tops for sale now. One in very good condition and the other new.
I may repair the floor flush before we re carpet.

I just knocked the plate up this morning in preference to a hole but it is flush with the carpet and not a problem for now

Oh, so you intend to leave the table out?
I was hoping for the quick release/ storage solutions.

We don't need nor want such a monolith. The only reason Rapido use such a big table is that it doubles as a front bed. We made our van two berth so that also is redundant.

If we decide to have a central small round table I'll fit a Fiamma style floor socket in the plate for a pedestal leg

No, large table is only just big enough for us 4/5.

Wife is happy at the prospect. Also with his and hers tables there is room for three visitors to sit down with us.

Our van has a large free standing table and a smaller pedestal table that slots into a similar floor cutout. Ideal for breakfast, drinks and more drinksh.......

I did a similar thing in the Chausson we used to have which had a big daft table in it, I replaced it with a small fixed table top on the side wall and a removable table which I made from a second hand boom arm (Ebay) and the top off a table I got from a car boot sale for £4! I offset the fixing point on the underside of the table top to allow it to be swivelled so that it could be used from both cab seats (when swivelled) and also so that the small fixed table top was mounted just above it and therefore didn't restrict the swivelling of the table top.

Changing it worked a treat so I'm now thinking of doing the same in our PVC too.

Very nice Techno ... the ONLY slight change I'd made is to round off the corners otherwise you'll end up with bruises! I speak from experience!!!!

Looks very good ....you realise this has just added to my things to do list as I have a big table in mine that I rarely use but is designed to be part of the middle bed
