In the Summer of 1978 we were stuck on the River Soane in France.

At the beginning of August a hire fleet of glass-fibre 'floating caravans' started to appear, powered by outboard motors - great fun for the hirers - and spectators

We were novice 'sailors', so had some sympathy for the antics of the holidaymakers......floating dodgems !

Being on the water is great, no matter how you get there

6th June 1944, there was a lot more of them too!. In fact the Germans got quite "anti" towards them. (at bit like some camp sites in Spain!)
