Have you got planning permission ?

Have you got Flag Commission approval ?

Have you got a full written risk analysis of the whole process from unpacking it to repacking it ?

Have made sure your insurance covers the risk ?

Have you done an ethnic study locally to be sure no-one will be offended ?

The red cross was originally a French flag, first used by Philip II on a crusade. His English oppo, Henry II, had a white cross. At some point in history, date uncertain, the English adopted the French cross.

So it's a French flag really, not English!

It has of course no official status but I guess after the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish have voted for independence it will be official as it will be all that's left of the Union Flag.

As a point of fact Wales is not represented on the Union Jack.

But happy St George's day regardless..

Whatever .... I can fly any flag I want in my garden without having to ask anyone!

I can't get my motorhome registered easily so I guess I can have some compensation....

Wales is represented, Dave.
When the flag as first formulated Wales was apparently a part of England, so further representation wasn't needed.:thumb:

Do you know I have never thought about it till I read that, and you are quite right. Maybe we should press for equality!

If it was a white cross you wouldn't see it, they'd think he was surrendering.

Is THAT where we went wrong ?

No, Brian.
Italy already had that one.

Come on, Jim.
Wales and Scotland get a flag.
Where's ours??

We must have the Cross of St George to celebrate being English BUT at the same time British. You nationalists should think hard about the consequences of a U.K. split

I will get it done, no bigger supporter of the 23rd than me. but I haven't had a moment to myself sorting stuff out at Peterborough and to be honest, after learning about Pat this morning, I've been very much CBA.

Flying the flag on this day is a celebration of pride in being English, not British.
In the same manner as the Welsh and Scots flags celebrate their own identities.

Being British and proud is a different matter.
Pride in the Union Flag is about being British.
