Best Route From Spain To Calais (1 Viewer)

Any one recommend best route back to Calais from South Spain this time of year, will be leaving Cadiz mid February

When we returned from Seville last autumn we went via Madrid, but only because we wanted to see Cordoba. Google Maps says go from Cadiz via Salamanca instead. Either way you end up going through Burgos and crossing the border into France near Biarritz, then it's pretty much plain sailing all the way up to Calais - Bordeaux, Poitiers, Tours, Le Mans, Rouen etc.

The main thing to watch out for is a lot of central Spain's motorways are above 1000 metres elevation so bad winter weather will hit hard. They have snow refuges along the motorway north of Madrid, which surprised me when I saw them.

There's a municipal campsite just outside Burgos (Fuentes Blancas) which is basically OK if you need an overnight stop in Spain, assuming it's open in Feb.

As for aires, we used Anglet (near Biarritz), Parc Futuroscope MH parking (Jaunay-Clan, north of Poitiers), and Wissant, about 30 minutes from Calais port.
