What is the best 12 month one off payment data sim. How large and cost. Most of the time I will be in Austria, Italy and France, but on the way will be in Belgium and Germany for a short time.

The PAYG one from Three 12GB for £30 and lasts for 12 months. It can be used in most countries of Europe, but if you use it for more than a month or two away from "home" (i.e. UK) then it will be blocked. May be worth getting more than one in that case, as I did. We were away for 5 weeks and had no problem using it.

Agree, the Three 12 gig for £30 seems to be the best deal. I'm currently on EE's 4g 16gig on a monthly rolling contract and pretty pleased with it so far at £22 a month. I seem to have had hours on the Net in this first month which refreshes tonight after my first month of use. Seems too have given me a good few hours a day on-line, even downloaded some BBC iplayer stuff.

But does the EE one work abroad without roaming charges?

I think you have to set it up to be "international" before you leave UK as I had a part used one and found I could not use in it France. However, the 12g Three card has worked a treat and most of my current blog has been done using it.

Just ordered a Three PAYG SIM 12 gb for £30 for a MIFI

This morning I called Three to check I could use in France and was told I had to get a 'bolt on' to use in France.. !!

the 3 guy didn't know how much it cost and told me to call Three once I activated the sim..

This is at odds with the information on this thread.. hopefully the 3 guy has it wrong.. ????

My Memory still has that one on offer for £24.99 if you are able to wait for it to be delivered.

Hi ukbill
When I got my 12gb data sim from 3 the guy said it costs more to top up rather than buying a new sim!!!

Has anyone used the Three 12gb card in EU without activating first in the UK? The last one I used I set up in the UK and activated International Roaming before leaving and did the same with the one I bought recently.

I'm thinking of buying another one as a reserve but not activating it until I need to. It should be possible to do this on the Three website in MyThree, but I wondered if anyone had done this?

Welcome from France on my Three 12GB sim card which I put in when I arrived in France and it has worked a treat for four weeks and I've never failed to get a signal. Oh yes, I've still got 10 GB left to use in the remaining 12 month period.

Thanks for that both. Sounds good. Just one more question did you activate in the device or did you go to the website on the computer?

I to believe the EE sims are limited to 100mb in overseas roaming data before you have to pay for additional data regardless of how much GB you would get in the UK.
