Best blog/route tracker app (1 Viewer)

I'd like to create a blog of my travels with a map showing my route, for family and friends but have concerns as to how private a website blog is and have already been advised against using Facebook for this. Since railing against windmills (aka technology) is one of my failings, I'd be grateful for any advice,comments from experience etc

Stop tilting at windmills... Blogger is often used and I think you can make it available only for people you approve in the admin page. Not sure about it having a mapping facility but probably you could do this on another program, like Google Maps etc, and paste an image into your blog.
