It was supposed to be the holiday the MH should have made the holiday of a lifetime. Instead it became almost a disaster.

Bought our Bessacarr E435 in April, new from Discover Darlington. Had to go back to Discover twice within a week with 12V problems - should have known this didnt bode well.

Loads of weekends since then, then off for a week in Slovenia and a few days in Austria for our main summer holiday. Drove from Co Durham to Dover on Friday 14th August, then ferry to Dunkirk on Sunday 16th (dont travel with Norfolkline, but thats a whole 'nother story). Drive to Bovec via Studdgart. Everything excellent until then, even no problem with Predel Pass (has to be experienced).

As soon as we got to Bovec, things went pearshaped, and 12V died. Everything indicated that 12V thought ignition was still on - step alarm sounded constantly, auto fridge showed 12V power, couldnt switch any 12V systems on.

Eventually, after much taking apart by hubby and frustration, things seemed to reset, and were working - until cab doors opened. Had to wait an age again, then reset. Once working, didnt dare start engine, so relied on bikes and shanks' pony for a week.

Had to start the journey home though. Drove to Berchtesgaden in Germany, then relays etc started to click all night, and step went in and out of its own accord. Not good.

Managed to nurse the MH back to England - home 5 days earlier than planned, and took it back to Discover on Saturday. They should have removed the consumer unit to send back to Swift today.

Hopefully they will sort it out - I cant tell you how close we are to giving it back as being sold unfit for purpose. Time will tell. If anything else goes wrong with it, both Swift and Discover will get more than a piece of my mind.

To top it all off, we got home in the early hours of Thursday morning - didnt take the bikes off the bike rack, as were locked on, and didnt want to wake the neighbours. Some b****rd swiped the saddle and both wheels off hubbys new bike during the night. 2000 miles across Europe wih no bother, then nicked on the drive. Says a lot.

Will keep you updated with what happens.

Thanks - Discover say it will probably be at least 10 days before they get back to us.

Fingers crossed.

Its two weeks today since we took the MH back to the dealer with its 12v problem. As yet, no one has had the courtesy to provide us with an update, so we rang them this morning.

Job card cant be found in order to give an update, because the guy we handed it over to isn't at work today!!!

Absolutely appalling customer service.

Its a glorious weekend - we should have been able to go somewhere to make the most of the weather.

Instead, because our MH at this stage is not fit for purpose, and the dealer cant even manage to tell us whats happening with it, we are stuck at home, having already had to cut our main summer holiday short and had to pay through the nose in order to come home early, because a brand new MH cant be used as it should be.

The temptation to reject it is now a distinct possibility.

Changing from caravan to MH is the best decision we have ever made, but buying a new Swift (Bessacarr) from Discover is the worst.

Hi Dave'N'mags,

On behalf of the Swift Group, I would like to apologies for the problems you have experienced with our products. If you haven't already, please e-mail /PM us with your details, and we will look into the status of your replacement fusebox.

It does sound like Discover have diagnosed the issue. For your information, the "Engine Run" signal (sometimes known as the "D+" signal) is generated by the Fiat cab, from the alternator. If is fed, via a Fiat relay, to a connector located in the "B" pillar, where we plug into, and use that feed to signal the fusebox when the engine is running.

There is a relay in our fusebox, which uses this signal, and the need for a replacement fusebox and the clicking indicates an issue with this relay.

If you can let us have your details, we can certainly give you an update.

Thanks, and once again, sorry.

Pm'd Swift last night. Hopefully things will be sorted soon.

Cant thank Peter at Johns Cross enough. It renews my faith in human nature that a dealer completely uninvolved and so very far away takes the time to help out!! Shame Discover dont show the same level of concern.

Fingers crosssed.
