Hi

We are busy planning our Summer Roadtrip and want to visit Bern enroute to Interlaken. Does anybody have any experience of parking (not overnighting) with easy access to the city. There appears to be a number of Park & Rides but most have height restrictions.

So hoping someone with first hand knowledge could help.

No help with your query but are you staying in Interlaken and if so where? One of my favourite places the Bernese Oberland. :)

Would also be interested in your trip as we plan to go there sometime in the next couple of years. We honeymooned there in 1980!

We are staying at Manor Farm in Interlaken and then onto Zematt before heading to the Italian lakes.

We stayed next door at the Alpenblick 2 years ago, they take the ACSI card which brought the price down a bit. We were turned away the day we arrived as central Europe had suffered badly from flooding and they were ready to evacuate the site so we had to go to Jungfrau Camp where we'd been in the mid 90's. Same old boy greeted us and the same old boys playing cards with him around the table in the cafe/bar. Although he displayed the ACSI sign he didn't honour it saying it was too expensive and didn't bring him any benefits. We moored up on the parking area for a two nights before moving to the Alpenblick for a couple of weeks.

It's a great area, we stayed at Manor Farm previously and liked it so going back, unfortunately due to school holidays we are going high season so everywhere is going to be expensive.

You will find places near the P&R as it's close to the exhibition centre (well not too far away) so with a 3.5t van I think you'll be OK, just be prepared to look around a bit. The expo centre could be an alternative and it should have a bus link to the centre.
