That's good back up you have got, must be comforting knowing that you have it.
It's fantastic. Luckily we've never had to use it personally. Someone I know did for her husband when they were in the USA and it worked with no problems. The UK machine couldn't be repaired quickly and they were given a new, top of the range machine as a loan.

It is +/- 10% now.
Within the EU there were two standards for mains voltage.
British standard specified 240V +/- 10% while German, and others specified 230V +/- 10%.
The EU wanted a single standard and opted for 230V +15% - 10% which just happened to encompass both previous standards.
The result is that the UK continues to supply power at a nominal 240V and others supply at 230V. However all appliances sold in the EU must operate successfully on both.

Thanks folks. This is great for people who need CPAP but our kit is not a straight forward CPAP machine which is why I'm looking for another solution. CPAP would be easy!

First and foremost, what happens if the electricity fails ?

What is the wattage of the device ? How long does it run for ?

Does it normally run on mains ?

A big lead acid leisure battery is one tough cookie, probably less likely to fail than some hi-tech LiPo battery. Solar plus lead acid plus quality inverter is seriously well tested reliable technology. Estimate £300.

Not sure of the wattage - I would have to check. It is 20v

Normally it runs on mains for around 10 hours a night.

Wattage is everything for planning this. A "normal" leisure battery has about 600 watt hours, so if the device was 60 watts then the battery could run it for 10 hours.

a dc/dc converter will give you 20v however it is the wattage that will determine how long your battery will last and the best way to recharge it. Until you find out the wattage no one can really advise you further
