I am going to Spain for 4nouths and would like to know if I took the batterie of of my car. A bmw 1 series would I lose all my dater
Would be grateful for any help ROBBO

Most cars have a main fuse, you can remove it and while saving data nothing will drain your battery.

Most information is stored in flash memory, things like radio codes and fuel maps, so unless you are away for a seriously long period, it should be fine.

Our old 1999 Discovery has this feature in the radio, doesn't 'lose' its code if the battery is off.

Thanks but have asked dealer in M K To different replies but I am going to remove battery and put on charge

7 years campers before that
mostly you will lose the radio code which isnt a problem if you know what it is

Enjoy your travels. Just had my series 1 serviced, all the settings had been lost when I got it back :mad:

How do you alarm and lock the car with no battery if its removed and put on charge?

OK if in a locked garage I suppose but less secure if not locked and alarmed.

Well you can still lock it with the key. Alarm no ,obviously but if they are going to bring a battery to nick it ,well.
