When I bought my RV it came with an awning, well at least part of one. I had a front and two sides and a skirt.
What I need to know is, the arms on the part that rolls the top out, are they supposed to be straight, also what do you use to secure the sides to the top part?

In American terms the Awning is the bit that's fixed to your RV
any side and front walls you may have are referred to as a privacy room:thumb:
Now we need to know the make of your awning or if not sure
Is it a standard pull out American style or wind out European style
the standard side walls of any privicy room when viewed fron the side, are taller at the back edge and short at the front edge to match the slope of the Awning roof
most privicy rooms also have a pole system to hold them up

Ok, well the awning is connected to the RV and is a wind out, and the front edge has a rail that has a curtain rail affair in the front, to attach the front part of the privacy room, the sides attach to the RV via rails like on caravans, and connect to the front part by zips, so that leaves the top edges open.
The rails that wind out the awning out don't straighten so the edge of the top has no real support.
What i have done is attach the top and sides by figure 8 rail, It seemed the only obvious way, although it' s in 3 pieces each side as I could only buy 1mtr lengths.
Oh and I almost forgot I have two adjustable poles for each end.

It sounds like you have a Euro style awning The legs are suposed to remain bent the poles you have may be used to support the top edge,
But it looks like you have found a work around:thumb:
