Hi All, We have just had our first outing in our Miami its a Renault 07 2.5 Auto. Drives like a dream no Reversing problems . I am not new to motorhoming having built my last two motorhomes ,last one coachbuilt with no problems. I am disapointed with Autotrail and the electrics .I am amazed to find that the habitation side of the van is also connected to the vehicle Batt. After a week on hookup and find we cannot start the vehicle because of flat Batt. There is a Leisure batt. fitted .I know I might have got the positions of the switches wrong on the control panel will have to do some testing.
I Know they fit this same charging and control panels in most of the Autotrail range can anyone give me the some idea of the position of the switches when on elec. hook up, and when parked up with no elec. As we some times park up over night .

Take off the radio/CD front as it is this that drains the power

Lift the mat up in the cab and you will see a rectangle plate the battery is underneath

    Hi Billy,
Could you also tell me where the outside light switch is pls ?
Sounds daft but my last camper had two switches this has one, and it doesn't switch the light on so it's either I have the wrong switch of the fitting has failed.

Very interesting thread, because we have just bought an Autotrail Dakota and when we went out to test drive it last week the battery was flat:Doh:

The mechanic said to us that probably someone had been in and left the radio/cd player on whilst looking at it. However, we had other thoughts on this, because the radio front had actually been removed at the time:RollEyes:

Is there something "quirky" about Autotrail electrics that we should know about?
We will be going down south to collect it next month, but are a bit concerned after reading this that we could end up with a flat battery after being on site for a while.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Bill,
British built with quality components, on our second one now so would strongly say buy one.
Mine was a duff new battery and all appears fine now but am just learning the vast changes yet only went from a 2003 to a 2007, technology moved flippin fast from what I can see.
I would just request a complete charging circuit test along with the usual and all should be well.
Happy to say happy with auto trail, enjoy your purchase.

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reassurance. They put a big hefty charger onto the battery and it burst into life, we took it for a test drive and thought it drove well.
We go down to collect it mid August, so looking forward to that.
    Thanks again:thumb:

    Paul

One more tip for you this problem has happened to us twice now.

If your step does not retract when you start your engine or your fridge will not work on 12v it is a blown fuse both the step and the fridge use the same fuse.
You will find this under the bench seat on your right as you look down the van.
It took me ages to find it when it happened to us.

    Ah good tip thanks.

Our last one the Apache had the step fuse by the battery which I didn't know where it was until you told me.

    All good stuff for sure.
