Has anyone got an autotrail cheyenne 840D motorhome? We are retiring soon and would like to treat ourselves to this model, has anyone any opinions that could decide us one way or another about buying this model? Your advise would be much appreciated.

We bought this model in April and have been thrilled with it. It fulfilled all our requirements and is really comfortable. This is our 6th one over 15 years so we had some idea of what we needed. The only problem I can find is the small bathroom when using the toilet or sink unless you have the door & the concertina door open but I am quite tall so I knew this when we bought the van. We have had a few problems but our dealer has been extremely good and sorted them out very quickly.

We have one and its "FAB, FAB, FAB" just like home from home.

The bed is so easy to get in and out of which is great for me as I have Lymphoedema and have to sleep with my feet on a wedge.

I love the way you can close the bedroom off completely if anyone is in bed and you can always close the whole of the back of the van if anyone is getting changed and you have visitors.

We have been out in ours about 6 times in 3 months and love it, oh!! just one thing our vehicle battery kept draining when we were parked up even with a solar panel and we did not know why.

Found out yesterday - even when the radio is turned off there is a small red light and this is what was doing it, we now have a switch so that it can be fully turned off.

I recommend this highly, if you decide to buy one I hope you will be as happy with yours as we are with ours xx

Thank you so much for your replies we are getting quite excited now at the thought of the Cheyenne model, yes the island bed is the big swayer for us too, think the bank manager will have to be talked to nicely now!! Will keep you informed of our progress in buying one. Cheers

    look at the 740s

you may like to look at the autotrail cheyenne 740s, its just a little smallar than the840d but has two single beds with a full rear bathroom.this means that one can go to bed when you get watch tv in the lounge area.as you may know their is a door between lounge and bedroom aera, and one to the bathroom.also your bank manager will be saving you loads of money!
best of luck which way you go.

Hi, we have had our 840D since October last year. We have had few different ones over the years, but this is by far and away the best ever. We are moving to Spain later this year, and unfortunatly will have to sell ours. If you are considering a nearly new one, email us, we might be able to help each other. Regards

    Hi

My friends have one of these and it is a very nice van.

Slightly off topic, I had a Kontiki 669 - so very similar to the Autotrail in terms of island bed, tag axle etc. I did find, that once a duvet etc was draped on the bed, the island seemed to become bigger and so I used to climb on the bed to get to the wardrobes etc.

I solved the bedding issue by purchasing a duvet, duvet cover and sheets from a firm called Jonic. The items are made for caravans and motorhomes etc.

Jonic, The Caravan Bedding Specialists: Caravan fitted sheets, duvet, duvet covers and towels.

I have no connection with the firm and when I get my next motorhome, I shall certainly order bedding from them if I need something "made to measure".

Also, if you can get hold of a copy of Practical Motorhome from October 2007, the 840D is tested alongside the Swift 669.
