    Hi,
We have suffered some damage to our over cab roof by the recent weather causing our chimney pot to fall on the cab:cry:
I want to make good the damage by adding a small heiki/Fiamma type roof light and cutting out the damage.
This was something that we often talked about, as the over cab gets quite stuffy at times when we have the grand kids with us to stay.
Luckily....if you can say that, the GRP front escaped. The pot shattered onto the house roof and broke into pieces a piece hit the van roof....see pictures.
Any advice ideas, or has anyone ever done this?
The van is insured, of course but the cost of excess and loss of NCB could pay for a roof light fitted professionally.:thumb:
I have effected a repair using a blanking plate and lots of sealant ect. for the time being.

its certainly possible, but it will depend on the roof supports in place and fitting a substantial support frame that maintains the structural integrity. i have seen badly fitted heki rooflights cause the roof to sag and resulted in leaks. not a task to tackle at home unless you know exactly how to do it

if it were me i would bond a second skin of aluminium over the damaged area using sikaflex, then finish with a joining strip over a cross beam at each side
